Title: Piano In The Field
Wendy’s visual art includes mixed-media, mosaics, printmaking, and many crafts! The “Piano in the Field” piece lovingly utilizes her mom’s quilting fabric. Wendy has spent the last decade facilitating community art programming with Calgarians who have experienced homelessness, isolation, addiction, and mental health challenges, as well as with the public through the Calgary Public Library.

This piece is part of the art collective for “Piano in the Field” by Ruth Purves Smith.
I chose to abstract the theme of leaving a piano in the field as leaving the past in the field.
It is an expression of transformation from one emotional plane to another.
The road to where is left for the viewer to reflect upon.
Raised in small town southern Alberta, much of my artwork is a metaphor of introspection and deep love of the land I grew up on. For me the prairies hold a quiet, yet deafening power, that intensifies my connection to the imagery of land and sky as emotion. The prairies are my place.

Derek Boe is a talented visual artist, masterful in sketch, paint, and computer generated mediums.
Artist: Jean Elliot
Jean has always been making/creating art. She is attracted to colour combinations and textures in nature and attempts to achieve them in paint, fabric, fibre and glass.
Jean attends workshops to learn new techniques and facilitates classes to share skills. I am amazed what I learn from my students.
Up-cycling, re-purposing, slow-stitching, machine sewing and stash busting are her current focus.
Retirement allows Jean to dabble in art full-time. She spends many enjoyable hours in her studio and garden.
